13...Bxd5
After two easy enough but still pretty wins from the first two rounds I was feeling good about my chess and confident going into this game against the number one seed in the tournament. The only loss I had suffered in my very first Bangkok Chess Club Open had been to this same opponent when on the Black side of a complex ending I blundered to allow my opponent a breakthrough which he prosecuted very well. Today I was out for revenge and felt good about my chances of a win after the opening went well and got better when Black played some artifical moves.
14.Bb5!?
Qa4 may have been better but I liked this idea too.
14...Ra7?!
The start of some artifical play from Black that only causes problems for himself.
15.Qe2
[15.Qa4!?
]
15...Qa8?!
Black is consistent but still in error.
16.Rfd1
Nf6
17.Be5
Ng4
18.Bg3
f5?!
Again Black is desperate to be active but only creates a weakness.
19.Bc4
[19.Nd4!
Was a move I had not thought worked but which is best here.]
19...Rd8
20.Bxd5
[20.Nd4!
Would again have been best.]
20...Rxd5
21.Rxd5
Qxd5
22.Rd1
Qe4
23.h3
Nf6
24.Ne5?
Now it is only equal [24.Rd8+!
Kh7
25.Be5
And White keeps a nice advantage]
24...Kh7
25.Qb5
a4
26.Qc6
Qxc6
27.Nxc6
Rd7
28.Rxd7
Nxd7
I now had very little time as after misplaying a better position I used up a lot of time trying to keep some advantage but could not find anything. I still thought I was better here but actually it is just equal and I done well not to go wrong with so little time left [ I had about 4 mins at this stage]
